Survey Technician

As a survey crew member at WDA Design Group in our Westborough location, you would be assisting our Professional Land Surveyors and other survey staff in various field and office survey duties including topographic, property line, GPS, construction, and land court surveys using state-of-the-art equipment. You will also work on office survey calculations and plan preparation using Civil 3D/AutoCAD.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist Registered Professional Surveyors with CAD productions, deed research, boundary analysis, easement preparations, legal descriptions, and computing survey points;
• Process raw field data through Carlson Survey & Civil 3D;
• Perform QA/QC checks;
• Coordinate and work with field crews and other office staff;

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 3 years of survey crew experience;
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required (must be able to operate AutoCAD Civil 3D for production activities);
• Knowledge of ALTA surveys, boundary analysis, topographic surveys, preparation of easement documents, legal descriptions, final plat preparation, construction staking
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, project coordination, and interaction with other design services;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
• Impeccable eye for detail;
• Strong communication skills (graphic, verbal and written);
• Must be dependable, self-directed, organized and self-motivated;
• Must hold valid driver’s license with clean driving record;
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment that is in a growth mode;
• Ability to utilize and operate Leica Robotic instruments and Carlson data collectors survey field equipment, preferred;
• SIT registration, preferred.

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Landscape Architectural Designer to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and overseeing diverse projects, working closely with clients, municipalities, and stakeholders to bring creative site solutions to life.

What You’ll Do:

• Utilize CAD and other design tools to plan and design land development projects – residential, commercial, institutional, and occasionally municipal;
• Provide project management, guidance and oversite of junior design staff;
• Assist with project permitting, including preparation and presentation of reports and applications to the public detailing proposed designs, environmental benefits and other pertinent information;
• Observe project sites and monitor progress of construction to ensure work conforms to applicable standards, regulations, and design specifications;
• In conjunction with clients and contractors, provide value engineering and respond to requests for information during construction;
• Meet clients, fellow consultants and subcontractors out in field;
• Work with other senior staff on business development, scheduling weekly work assignments, reviewing proposals and invoices.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture; Master’s Degree and Registration a plus;
• 10+ years of relevant work experience in landscape architectural design including feasibility studies site design, grading and planting design as well as project management;
• Thorough knowledge of plant material;
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD / Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, Adobe products; Photoshop and Illustrator, a plus;
• Expertise in construction administration and regulatory permitting for residential, commercial, and institutional land development projects in Massachusetts;
• Capable and confident staff leadership and construction administration skills;
• Self-directed, organized and self-motivated to accomplish goals;
• Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills;
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment;
• Ability to work with clients, town boards, cooperating subs, and other project related parties to maintain smooth project management;
• Ability to deliver effective presentations to clients and Town Boards;
• Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven challenging environment.

We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing and overseeing diverse projects, working closely with clients, municipalities, and stakeholders to bring creative site solutions to life.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and prepare site development plans using AutoCAD/Civil 3D for a range of projects, from residential subdivisions to commercial and institutional developments.
• Utilize HydroCAD to develop effective stormwater runoff models and design stormwater management systems to MADEP standards.
• Navigate the local and state permitting process, preparing reports and presenting projects at public meetings.
• Conduct site visits and monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with regulations and design specifications.
• Collaborate with the team on business development, proposal writing, and project planning.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
• EIT Certification (with the ability to obtain PE within 5 years)
• 5+ years of experience in site design, grading, drainage, and permitting in Massachusetts
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D & HydroCAD
• Strong knowledge of stormwater hydrology/hydraulics and land development permitting
• Familiarity with land surveying techniques and construction administration
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a dynamic team environment
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Soils Evaluator Certificate and Septic Design Experience a plus!
• Current MA PE License a plus!
• Massachusetts residency preferred
