Kenneth Strom is a licensed professional land surveyor with 36 years of experience in surveying and 14 years experience in civil engineering design. Mr. Strom earned registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1992.

Prior to joining WDA Design Group, Mr. Strom has worked with area land surveying and civil engineering firms as a chief surveyor/ survey office manager, civil engineering designer, and senior project manager.

Mr. Strom has been involved in all types of land surveys including boundary, Land Court, title insurance (ALTA/NSPS), data collection (topographic, utilities and detail surveys), condominium, highway layout alterations, easement and right-of-way, construction layout and as-builts, and deformation monitoring. Ken has utilized various surveying equipment including total stations (manual and robotic) and data collectors, traditional and digital levels, laser levels, high definition laser scanners, and GNSS receivers.

During his career, Ken has performed land surveys across the state from Williamstown to Barnstable with seven years on several large-scale projects in Boston and Cambridge including the Central Artery/Tunnel Project (“Big Dig”). He has worked for various clients including the Mass. Turnpike Authority, Mass. DOT, MBTA, Mass. DCAMM, BWSC, City of Boston D.P.W, City of Worcester D.P.W., and various commercial developers, educational institutions, and health care facilities.

Additionally, Mr. Strom has been involved in the design and permitting of residential subdivisions; site plans for commercial, industrial, retail, academic and institutional clients; and multi and single-family residential projects, including Chapter 40B projects. He has regularly presented such projects to Planning Boards, Zoning Boards of Appeals and Conservation Commissions at public hearings, and has established a highly successful track record of obtaining permits by garnering all parties support during the conceptual and design development phases and an attention to detail in final design. Ken typically supports his projects through construction which involves site inspections, shop drawing reviews, contractor coordination, value engineering, and often entails permit close out and final sign off for occupancy.

Mr. Strom participates in land surveying, civil engineering and land use and development seminars to remain abreast of the current industry standards, regulations and ideas in the fields of surveying, engineering and land development. Ken is adept in numerous surveying and civil engineering software packages including AutoCAD Land Development Desktop and Civil 3D, Carlson Survey & Civil suite, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, and Star*Net, and utilizes the latest computer technology in the process.

Ken enjoys spending his time outside of work on a variety of interests with his family and friends including travel, 4-season camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and snowshoeing. He also enjoys reading and tinkering around with his vehicles. He is currently involved with Wachusett Greenways on their trail building projects and with the White Oak Land Conservation Society on their property acquisition, maintenance and monitoring projects.
