CONNECT WITH JIM

Jim has over twenty one years of diverse experience as a landscape architect, and serves as WDA's Vice President of Operations.  He is responsible for overall project design, comprehensive project management, and multi-disciplinary project team coordination.  He has extensive experience in all phases of site design, from preliminary site and regulatory analyses through design development to comprehensive construction administration.  As Vice President, he is responsible for the overall development and implementation of the firm’s Standard Operating Procedures, project budget supervision, AutoCAD standards and data management, development of junior staff, marketing and new business development.

Jim's work includes the design of the landscape infrastructure at Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, MA.  This new LEED Certified Gold $250 million facility is the first licensed casino awarded by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.  The site is located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 495, and is the home to harness and simulcast racing.  He was the project director and designer for the “Green House Homes” at the Saint Elizabeth Community in East Greenwich, RI.  This new concept of senior living is the first of its kind constructed in RI.  Jim was the project director for the South Main Street Streetscape in Providence, RI, which includes the restoration of brick sidewalks, mitigation techniques for existing trees and the introduction of new street trees along the mile-long historic downtown corridor.  He was also the project landscape architect for the new 350,000 sf Insulet Corporation World Headquarters in Acton, MA.

Jim was responsible for the design, permitting and construction administration for Northborough Crossing, a 625,000 sf “open-air” mixed-use development in Northborough, MA.  The project is home to the first Wegman’s Supermarket in New England, numerous restaurants and retail venues, and both formal and preserved open space.  The residential component of the project includes a 382 apartment complex for AvalonBay, created under the Massachusetts affordable housing program, MGL Chapter 40B.  He also designed the landscape infrastructure for Maynard Crossing, an adaptive reuse of the former 58 acre Digital Equipment Corporation site in Maynard, MA .

Jim is responsible for the design and construction administration of numerous automobile dealerships throughout Massachusetts for Colonial Automotive Group, including the new Colonial Ford dealership in Plymouth, MA; Colonial Honda and Colonial Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram in Dartmouth, MA; Colonial Volkswagen in Medford and Westborough, MA, and Acton Toyota of Littleton.  Jim has worked on a wide range of projects in the public and private sector, including athletic facilities, parks for local towns, places of worship, and various institutional projects.  His residential project experience ranges from a single family estate on Maui to affordable housing projects throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Away from the office, Jim enjoys golfing with his 88 year old dad, spending time with his wife of 20 plus years, and gardening at his home in Smithfield, RI.  In the winter months he enjoys skiing with his nephews and rooting on the New England Patriots and the PC Friars basketball team.
