Crow Island Residence

WDADG was contracted to review the possibilities for upgrade of the existing septic systems on this 5-acre private peninsula on the Atlantic Ocean. The Circa 1849 stone mansion is high above sea level and features formal gardens. Being surrounded by ocean, with areas of the site within the 100-year flood zone, and with numerous rock outcrops, the site presented a challenge for our septic system design engineers. By working closely with the town Board of Health, local Conservation Commission and the Department of Environmental Protection, we evaluated and designed a suitable septic system utilizing an intermittent sand filter, recently approved by the DEP. Permitting by the Board of Health, Conservation Commission and the DEP satisfied the needs of the site and ensured protection of the environment.
