BARRINGTON parks AND RECREATION

WDADG has worked closely with the Town staff, leagues, and advisory groups in Barrington, Rhode Island to design and implement a long-range recreation improvements program throughout the Town.  The overall project included master planning for numerous park sites, each with a diverse size, context, and program.

The Lincoln Avenue Tennis Courts and Middle Highway Basketball Courts were carefully redesigned and engineered to reflect the latest dimensional and safety requirements and to accommodate high water tables and setbacks from adjacent properties.  Located across from the Barrington High School, the tennis facility, consisting of six (6) courts, has multiple points of safe access from the school building and adjacent parking lot.  A courtyard shaded by flowering cherry trees separates the tennis courts and seating is provided both formally (i.e. custom seat walls and bleachers) and informally (i.e. central landscape mounds and surrounding lawn areas).  The basketball facility, located adjacent to Barrington Middle School, is designed to accommodate league games as well as high school and NCAA college standards of play.
